Preview: High Sierra Music Festival

Nestled in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the Plumas National Forest lies the town of Quincy, California. A small, sleepy community most of the year, come late June, Quincy comes alive, teeming with life, music, culture, and good vibes. From June 29 to July 2, 2017, High Sierra Music Festival will be bringing its unique blend of live music from varied genres, art installations, performances, family activities, and movement classes to the picturesque town that has hosted the festival since 2000. Focusing on jambands, bluegrass, funk, and a dash of electronic music, High Sierra Music Festival will feature performances from canonized legends, festival stalwarts, exciting groups on the cusp of fame, brand new underground acts, and everything in between.
Headliners include the Trey Anastasio Band (lead by Trey Anastasio of Phish), Ween, STS9, and Gov’t Mule (a side project of the Allman Brothers); all festival veterans with massive cult followings that have been rocking for 20+ years. As jambands evolve into the modern age, High Sierra Welcomes acts like Manic Focus and Sunsquabi, who both offer an a more upbeat, electronic twist on the jamband style. High Sierra has something for everyone, offering both family-friendly areas and activities, alongside late night shows all four nights. More than just music, the festival encourages creativity, positivity, and allowing yourself to let go of the rigidity of day-to-day life: costume contests and parades, yoga and pilates classes, silent discos, and art exhibitions are daily occurrences!

High Sierra Music Festival focuses heavily on giving back to and supporting both the local and national communities! The festival runs a food drive, and has a special area where attendees can interact and learn how to get involved with several different nonprofits with causes that range from sustainability to preservation of the arts to addiction recovery and support to voter registration to bone marrow donation.
